Terreal is a French manufacturer of fired-clay building products, best known for clay roof tiles. Its oldest predecessor, TBL Guiraud Freres, dates from 1855. The group itself took shape when three French tile and brick makers, Lambert, TBF and Guiraud, were brought together, first under a holding company created in 1991 and then as Saint-Gobain Terreal in 2002. Terreal was acquired by the Austrian group Wienerberger, a process completed in early 2024.

Products

Terreal produces clay roof tiles in regional French styles, including flat tiles and Roman or canal (curved) tiles used in southern France, plus ridge and fitting pieces, chimneys, clay facade cladding and load-bearing brick. It developed roof-integrated solar products through Terreal Solaire, created in 2010, and also supplied metal roofing components.

Footprint

Before its acquisition the group had manufacturing in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Poland and the United States, with additional activity in Belgium, the Netherlands and Hungary, a plant in Malaysia opened in 2017, and joint ventures or sales offices in Mexico and Brazil. Spanish and Italian businesses were added through purchases of Ceramicas del Ter and San Marco Laterizi in 1987.
