The Roofing Contractors Association of British Columbia (RCABC) is a provincial trade association for roofing contractors in British Columbia, Canada. It traces its start to 1958 and operates the website rcabc.org.

RCABC members are roofing contractors working on commercial, institutional and residential buildings in the province, along with suppliers, manufacturers and inspection firms. The association is affiliated with the Canadian Roofing Contractors Association (CRCA) and the U.S.-based National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA).

RoofStar Guarantee

RCABC is best known for the RoofStar Guarantee program (the program's proper name), a third-party warranty program for roofs installed by RCABC member contractors. The association dates its first roofing industry warranty to 1960. Coverage applies to both workmanship and materials, and an independent observer meeting RCABC qualifications monitors the installation and carries out follow-up performance reviews. In late 2024 RCABC launched an additional program for green (vegetated) roofs.

Because RoofStar Guarantee coverage can only be issued for work by member contractors, building owners and architects in British Columbia often specify it in contract documents for commercial projects.

Technical and training work

  • Roofing Practices Manual (RPM). RCABC publishes the RPM, a set of technical standards and details for roof systems accepted under its program. It is widely used in the province by designers and inspectors.
  • Training Centre. The association operates a training centre for roofing apprentices and workers, which it describes as the first educational facility in North America designed for and dedicated to training the entire roofing industry.
  • Inspector network. RCABC lists accredited independent inspection firms that review projects registered under the program.

Context

British Columbia's coastal climate brings long periods of rain, and its interior has snow loads and freeze-thaw cycles. These conditions shape the association's emphasis on low-slope waterproofing, inspection and maintenance guidance. Homeowners looking for a roofer in the province can use RCABC's member directory, though provincial business licensing and municipal permits remain separate requirements.
