Atlas Roofing Corporation is a North American manufacturer of roofing and insulation products. It began with a single plant in Meridian, Mississippi in 1982 and has its corporate offices in Atlanta, Georgia. By its 40th anniversary in 2022 the company reported 36 facilities in North America.

Divisions

Atlas is organised into several divisions:

  • Shingles and underlayment: asphalt shingles for steep-slope roofs and synthetic and felt underlayments.
  • Roof and wall insulation: rigid foam insulation boards for commercial roofs and building walls, including polyisocyanurate (polyiso) products.
  • Molded products: expanded polystyrene (EPS) and other molded foam items.
  • WebTech: a division providing coated and laminated facer materials.

History and brand

The company has used three logos in its history. In January 2022, to mark 40 years in business, it introduced a new brand identity and corporate tagline and moved to the website atlas-arc.com, with the updated logo retaining the globe from its original 1982 mark. Atlas has stated that its shingles have been installed on more than 1.5 million roofs.

Products in context

Atlas shingles are sold mainly in the United States through roofing distributors. Like other North American shingle producers, it markets shingles together with underlayment, starter, ridge and ventilation components as a complete system eligible for extended manufacturer warranties. Its insulation business supplies the commercial low-slope roofing market, where polyiso boards are commonly installed beneath single-ply or bituminous membranes.Polyiso and EPS serve different roles: polyiso offers higher insulating value per unit thickness and is common under commercial membranes, while EPS is lighter and often used in tapered insulation and molded goods.
